Scope of material
WHAT WE BUY: SURPLUS ELECTRICAL WIRE AND CABLE
One category only — wire and cable — and every common construction sold in Michigan. Here is the full list, how condition affects a quote, and how to tell us what you have.
Leftover project wire? Sell it now — don’t scrap it.
Building wire and branch-circuit wire
THHN, THWN, THWN-2, XHHW and XHHW-2 in copper and aluminum, plus feeder and branch-circuit wire in the sizes that actually move: #14 through 1000 MCM.
- THHN / THWN / THWN-2 — single-conductor thermoplastic wire in cartons, spools and reels; the most common surplus wire in contractor shops.
- XHHW and XHHW-2 — cross-linked polyethylene insulation for wet locations, feeders and service work.
- Feeder and branch-circuit wire — everything from 15 A lighting circuits to 400 A feeders.
- Grounding conductors — bare copper, green insulated and bonding jumpers.
Industrial and plant cable
Material from plant projects, line moves, automation upgrades and maintenance stock.
- MC and AC cable — metal-clad and armored cable, interlocked and served, in coils and reels.
- Tray cable (TC) — power and control tray cable rated for cable tray installation.
- VFD cable — drive cable with symmetrical grounds and foil/braid shielding.
- PLTC and instrumentation cable — multi-pair, shielded, thermocouple extension and low-energy control cable.
- Control cable — multi-conductor control and signal cable from panels and MCC feeds.
- Shielded cable — foil, braid, drain-wire and armored constructions.
Service-entrance and underground cable
- SER — service entrance cable with a bare ground, copper or aluminum, 6/3 through 4/0 and larger.
- SEU — service entrance cable with a concentric neutral, commonly used for residential and light commercial services.
- URD — underground residential distribution cable, including triplex and quadruplex assemblies.
- USE-2 — direct-burial service cable rated for wet and underground locations.
Specialty, flexible and low-voltage cable
- Welding cable — 600V flexible welding cable in #6 through 4/0, black and colored jackets.
- SOOW and portable cord — 18/2 through 10/4, including entertainment and stage cable.
- Flexible cable — tray-rated flexible and continuous-flex cable for moving equipment.
- Communication cable — copper communication and category cable, including plenum constructions.
- Low-voltage cable — thermostat, bell, irrigation, landscape and low-energy control cable.
- Fire-alarm cable — FPL and FPLR rated cable, twisted and untwisted.
Medium and high voltage cable
5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV+ cable, including EPR and XLPE insulation, concentric neutral and shielded constructions, copper tape shields and lead-sheathed cable. Full reels, long cut lengths and project overages are all worth a review — this is material where a single reel can carry significant value.
Formats we accept
- Full and partial reels, wooden or metal
- Spools and coils, including factory cartons
- Unused cut lengths and short ends from a job
- Warehouse stock, overstock and discontinued sizes
- Cancelled-project and never-installed material
- Mixed pallets, provided the contents can be identified
If the reel tag is gone, photograph the jacket printing. Every listed construction has a legend printed on the jacket or on the inner conductors, and that legend is what lets us identify and price material that has lost its paperwork.
What falls outside our scope
We do not buy transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, MCCs, generators, bus plugs, chillers, machinery, vehicles, lighting fixtures or unrelated surplus equipment. Offers for that material should go to a dealer who trades in it.
We also decline some wire: cable with destroyed jacket, material that has been wet or buried in mud, unmarked wire that cannot be identified, and anything that cannot be safely handled or loaded.
Every size of reel finds a buyer
Wooden reels, steel reels, returnable reels and loose coils. Size and packaging do not decide whether we are interested — type, condition and quantity do.

Send us the lot
Send the details and photos once — we review the lot and come back with a real number, not a range.
What helps us quote fast
- Cable markings and jacket legends from the reel tag
- Total footage, reel count or an estimated weight
- Whether the material is new surplus, unused or a partial reel
- How a truck gets to it — dock, forklift, ground level

Surplus wire quote request
Questions sellers ask before they call
Do you buy wire with no reel tag?
Often, yes. The jacket legend usually carries the type, size, voltage and manufacturer, and that is enough to identify the material. Send a clear photo of the printing on the jacket and the wire ends.
Is unused cut length worth anything?
Short ends have value in copper and in larger aluminum sizes, but length matters. Tell us the approximate length and we will tell you whether it is worth moving.
Do you buy mixed pallets of wire?
We can review a mixed pallet if the contents can be identified. List what is on it and photograph the tags; a mixed lot is priced item by item, not as one number.
What about damaged or wet material?
It is reviewed case by case. Water-damaged, mud-covered or crushed material is frequently declined because the copper cannot be verified and the jacket may be compromised.

Surplus wire sitting in a warehouse costs money every month
Send what you have and we will tell you what it is worth. One reel, a pallet of cut lengths, or a full rack of medium-voltage cable — start with the details and a few photos.
