The process

HOW SELLING SURPLUS WIRE WORKS

No auctions, no consignment, no waiting for a buyer to appear. You send the material details, we review them and quote the lot, and you decide whether to move forward.

Leftover project wire? Sell it now — don’t scrap it.

01 Step one

Send the material details

The form on this page asks for the things that actually determine value. If you only know part of it, send what you have — a photo of a reel tag answers most of the questions at once.

  • Wire or cable type and, if known, the manufacturer
  • Metal: copper, aluminum or unknown
  • Gauge or MCM size, voltage rating and conductor count
  • Approximate footage, reel or spool count, or estimated weight
  • Condition and packaging
  • City and ZIP where the material is sitting
  • Photos: overall reels, jacket markings, tags, labels and wire ends

You can also email the same information to saleselectricalbuyers@gmail.com or call +1 (614) 715-3047 if it is easier to talk it through.

02 Step two

We review the lot and quote it

A buyer reviews the material against four things:

  1. Identification — what the cable actually is, confirmed from markings or tags rather than assumption.
  2. Condition — jacket integrity, reel condition, storage history, whether the ends are sealed.
  3. Quantity — full reels, confirmed footage, or an estimate if footage is unknown.
  4. Logistics — weight, access, distance and how the material has to be loaded.

You get a direct answer. If we can use the material, you get a number for the lot. If we cannot, we tell you that too, and often point you toward the channel that fits better.

03 Step three

Coordinate removal and payment

Once terms are agreed in writing, we schedule removal. Loading method depends on the material: dock-height trailers for palletized reels, flatbeds or drop-decks for large single reels, and forklift or crane arrangements where reel weight requires it.

Payment is settled directly with you on the agreed terms. Nothing leaves the site before those terms are confirmed, and we do not ask anyone to release material on a verbal estimate.

04 What to prepare

What makes a quote fast

  • Reel tags. A single photo of the tag usually gives type, size, voltage, length and manufacturer.
  • Jacket legend. If the tag is gone, photograph the printing on the jacket — it is printed for exactly this reason.
  • A count. Number of reels, and whether each is full or partial.
  • Access notes. Dock or ground level, forklift capacity, whether a 53-foot trailer can turn around.
  • Storage history. Inside a warehouse, under a tarp outdoors, or in a yard for years — this changes condition and price.

What we will not do

We will not give a firm number for material nobody has described, and we will not promise to buy a lot regardless of condition. If the details are thin, expect questions before a number.

Request a quote

Start with the details

Send the details and photos once — we review the lot and come back with a real number, not a range.

What helps us quote fast

  • Cable markings and jacket legends from the reel tag
  • Total footage, reel count or an estimated weight
  • Whether the material is new surplus, unused or a partial reel
  • How a truck gets to it — dock, forklift, ground level

Wire and cable detail
Quantity and condition

Most useful shots: overall reels or spools, the cable markings printed on the jacket, the reel tag or label, wire ends, and anything that shows condition. Markings and tags are what let us quote quickly.

FAQStraight answers

Questions sellers ask before they call

Is there a cost to get a quote?

No. Submitting material for review is free, and there is no obligation to accept the offer.

How long does a review take?

It depends on how complete the details are. A clear set of photos and a count can be reviewed quickly; material with no markings or vague quantities takes longer because we have to ask follow-up questions.

Do I need to deliver the wire?

No. Removal is arranged as part of the transaction, including loading. If you prefer to deliver, that can be discussed as part of the terms.

What if the footage turns out different than estimated?

That is normal on partial reels. The agreed terms account for how footage is confirmed, and we settle on what is actually there rather than on an early guess.

Surplus wire sitting in a warehouse costs money every month

Send what you have and we will tell you what it is worth. One reel, a pallet of cut lengths, or a full rack of medium-voltage cable — start with the details and a few photos.
