WHO WE BUY SURPLUS WIRE FROM IN MICHIGAN
Surplus wire comes from a predictable set of places. If your organization fits one of these profiles, the material you are holding is probably something we quote regularly.
Leftover project wire? Sell it now — don’t scrap it.
Electrical and construction contractors
The largest source of surplus wire in the state, and the easiest to work with: the material usually still has its reel tag.
Every commercial job ends with leftover wire. A service upgrade changes size mid-project. A pull comes up short and a new reel gets opened. A tenant build-out is value-engineered after the material is ordered. Over a few years, a shop accumulates a rack of partial reels that nobody wants to inventory and nobody wants to throw away.
We buy that material: full reels of THHN and XHHW, partial reels of SER and MC, boxes of #12 and #10, welding cable from the truck, and the short ends that are too long to scrap and too short to use.
Construction, renovation and demolition contractors
Renovation and teardown work produces removed cable, recovered copper and service cable that was replaced rather than reused. We review removed material case by case and are clear about what we can and cannot take.
Electrical distributors and wholesalers
Distributors end up with wire that cannot go back on the shelf: special orders a customer never picked up, discontinued constructions, slow-moving sizes in the back of the rack, damaged cartons and return material with no paperwork.
We review single reels and full rack sections, and we can work through a written list with manufacturer part numbers rather than requiring photos of every item. Where a size is no longer current, an accurate description of the construction and length is enough to start.
Manufacturers and industrial facilities
Michigan's manufacturing base produces surplus wire in cycles: a line move, a press replacement, an automation retrofit, a plant consolidation. Projects are ordered with contingency, and the contingency stays on a shelf until the next project makes it obsolete.
We buy that stock — VFD cable from drive replacements, tray cable from a panel rebuild, control and instrumentation cable from an aborted upgrade, medium-voltage cable from a substation project, and the feeder and grounding conductors left over from the last electrical contractor's scope.
Automotive, aerospace and metalworking
Stamping, machining, tooling and assembly operations all carry spare cable for equipment that has since been replaced. Send the reel tags and the quantities; we will price what is usable.
Hospitals, universities and campuses
Large campuses hold maintenance stock across multiple buildings and multiple decades. When a building is renovated or a department moves, the wire in the maintenance crib is often orphaned: correct when it was bought, unidentifiable to the current staff.
We buy building wire, MC and AC cable, tray and control cable, fire-alarm cable and service cable from institutional stock, and we work with facilities and procurement staff who need the transaction documented rather than improvised.
Utilities, data centers and infrastructure
Utility and infrastructure work generates medium-voltage and underground cable surplus: URD and USE-2 from distribution projects, 15kV and 25kV reels from substation work, and spare cut lengths that no longer fit the next run.
Data centers and telecom facilities produce power cable from phased builds and decommissioned infrastructure, including large feeder and service cable that is worth a review before it is scrapped.
Warehousing, food processing and logistics
Distribution centers, cold storage and food processing plants install conveyor, refrigeration and power distribution, then keep the leftovers. Expansions leave partial reels of tray cable and SOOW, and equipment changes leave control cable that no longer matches anything on the floor.

Send the details and photos once — we review the lot and come back with a real number, not a range.
What helps us quote fast
- Cable markings and jacket legends from the reel tag
- Total footage, reel count or an estimated weight
- Whether the material is new surplus, unused or a partial reel
- How a truck gets to it — dock, forklift, ground level

Questions sellers ask before they call
Do you work with procurement or facilities departments?
Yes. We can provide the material description, quantities and transaction details your process needs, and we coordinate removal around your schedule and site access rules.
Can you review a list without photos?
For distributors and facilities with part numbers and reel tags, a written list is often enough to start. Photos still help confirm condition, and we will ask for specific ones if something is unclear.
Do you sign in and follow site safety rules?
Removal is coordinated with your site requirements. Tell us about contractor check-in, PPE rules, dock scheduling and escort requirements before pickup so there are no surprises on the day.

Surplus wire sitting in a warehouse costs money every month
Send what you have and we will tell you what it is worth. One reel, a pallet of cut lengths, or a full rack of medium-voltage cable — start with the details and a few photos.
