SELL SURPLUS BARE COPPER AND GROUNDING WIRE

Grounding conductors are pure copper with no insulation to discount, which makes them one of the cleanest materials to price when the size and quantity are known.

Leftover project wire? Sell it now — don’t scrap it.

Copper wire reels with visible bare copper conductors
01 Bare copper

Bare copper conductors

  • Solid bare copper — #14 through #2, used for grounding electrodes and bonding.
  • Stranded bare copper — #8 through 500 MCM and larger, for grounding electrode conductors and equipment bonding.
  • Tinned copper — silver-colored, used in older and specialty installations.
  • Bare copper braid and bonding jumpers — reviewed when the size and quantity are clear.

Bare copper is priced on its copper content and cleanliness, with the size and confirmed weight or length as the main inputs.

02 Insulated ground

Green insulated ground wire

Green THHN and XHHW grounding conductors are among the most commonly left-over items on a commercial job, because grounding is bought in bulk and consumed unpredictably. #12 and #10 green in 500 ft spools and partial coils are a standard warehouse item.

We buy green and green-with-yellow-stripe ground wire in #14 through 4/0, in copper and occasionally aluminum.

03 Condition

What we check

  • Cleanliness — bare copper that has been buried, painted or contaminated is priced accordingly.
  • Oxidation — a dull patina is normal; heavy green corrosion suggests long exposure.
  • Strand damage — broken strands reduce usable length and value.
  • Coil condition — tangled coils cost handling time and are reflected in the quote.
  • Size confirmation — printed on insulated ground; measured or matched on bare.

Not a scrap transaction

We buy grounding wire as wire — by construction and length. That is usually a better outcome than scrap pricing for clean, identifiable material.

Send your grounding wire details

Send the details and photos once — we review the lot and come back with a real number, not a range.

What helps us quote fast

  • Cable markings and jacket legends from the reel tag
  • Total footage, reel count or an estimated weight
  • Whether the material is new surplus, unused or a partial reel
  • How a truck gets to it — dock, forklift, ground level

Quantity and condition

Most useful shots: overall reels or spools, the cable markings printed on the jacket, the reel tag or label, wire ends, and anything that shows condition. Markings and tags are what let us quote quickly.
